Everyone wants to say no because he was handed great players and teams. But if you stop and think about it, these great players and teams didn't start winning until he came along. This season should erase any doubt when it comes to his level of competency. Phil Jackson is without a doubt, the greatest coach the game has ever seen. And he's not even finished yet.

any coach who has kobe and shaq, or MJ and Pippen at the same time playin for them is gunna be the best hands down.. and now... the lakers are gunna win 2 champs in a row... 2008 and the 2009 championship.. cuz pau gasol and kobe and odom and fisher and vujacic and radmonovic and ariza and turiaf are all beasts.
I think it would be fair to say. Jordan could not win without him. Shaq and Kobe could not win without him.

All have won with him. He is worthy of comparison, especially in this league with so many athletes. Red admitted that he hoarded all the talent on his team and paid more to keep them.

In the current NBA, with salary caps, you can't do that any more.

he will never surpass red in the total championships, but i believe that he is a better overall coach, making bench players better as well as coaching some of the elite to ever play this game and makiing them better; names like mj, kobe, shaq, pippen, etc. thats a pretty good list.
phil is the greatest coach of all-time because he coach great players like jordan, pippen, o'neal and bryant,he is consider the master of triangle offense, he won championships and improve bench players
Phil Jackson is the greatest coach of his time. No one else in modern times has done what he has. It's really hard to compare coaches from different generations. I think that both Red and Phil are the greatest coaches of their time.
Phil's already the greatest because he did it with two different teams. This championship will just be the icing on the cake and will end the discussion.
